Happy Friday!!!

Happy Friday!!  & Also, a Happy Birthday to my brother!!!  I love this color combo, Whisper White, Real Red and Bermuda Bay…..

I try to keep cards for the men in my life very simple, they are not really into the fuss of the other cards I make.  A card that’s quick and easy, is better for me these days with the extreme cold days and snow we’ve been getting!  Unfortunately for us in the Northeast there is no end in sight for the next 20 days or so!   Also don’t forget to visit Brandy’s Cards to see all our other creations!

We’re Back! Hooray for color challenge day!

It feels so good to be back creating and being on a schedule with my Stampin’ Up buddies and products!

Calypso Coral, Basic Black, Whisper White.

For todays card, I wanted to create a basically “all white” card with little color or colored card stock.  I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and with this color combo it has allowed me to really think about what I wanted to create.

Here it is:

So darn cute but simple, Right? I was so inspired with the new happy watercolors DSP, I wanted to do something similar by creating a polka dot background, but how?  I opened my obscenely disgusting junk drawer in the kitchen and there it was, one of the pencils my boy’s do their homework with.  I used the eraser with the stamp on/off technique to get that subdued color and filled the sheet with dots!  Since we all be displaying Valentine cards the next few weeks, why not start with this one? The Expression Thinlits “LOVE” made it sooo easy for me.  It really took me about 5 minutes to get this card together.  I hope you like it!  Until next post, paper crafting hugs……

Christmas Project 2

A Mixed Bunch Christmas Tree

You will need:

Blossom Punch , Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, Gumball Green CS and Ink, glue gun,  a Paper Cone and scissors.

I used a paper cone because the Styrofoam melts with the glue gun and its just messy and could get out of shape.  I used 2 1/2 pieces of CS and started stamping the blossom with the 4 strands of petals with the dots.  After punching them out I cut 2 petals at a time with some single ones and started gluing round and round, up the cone.  With only one glue gun burn, I did well……LOL! when I got to the top I cut only 2 petals out and glued one on top of another to end with 3 as a mini cone, then glued it on top!

tips: I held each petal a few seconds to keep it in place.  As I went around the cone I also filled in with single petals so it would look fuller with no gaps and seeing the cone behind it.  I also took the ink pad and smeared in over the cone so you would not see brown behind it.

I like how this came out, for now.  I’m still not sure if I “dress” it up with some bling.

Stamp on Monday

Another Big Thank You!!!!

These Photo Polymer stamp sets are without question, THE BEST!!!!!!

You will need:

Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, and Pistachio Pudding CS, and Inks.  Scalloped 7/8 punch and Itty Bitty Punches.

I used the Hearts a Flutter stamp set to create the background in Brown Sugar ink and punched it with the Scallop Punch. Then the little “Heart” just fit in the Itty Bitty Scallop punch.  Simple and quick to create a stack thank you’s I desperately needed.

Christmas Project 1

Hopefully, every Wednesday  I will be able to show you some designs I came up with for Christmas!  Believe or not my boys have already been listening to Christmas music and have already asked to put their trees in their rooms!  This very easy project I came up with from inspiration from the Oriental Trading catalog.

 

 

You will need:  Black and Red Sharpies, Rhinestone Gems, Oval and Scalloped punches, Gumball Green ribbon, Brown sugar or Basic Gray, whisper White, Blushing Bride CS.

I ran the BSCS through the big shot and used the largest Apothecary framelit.  Punched out the Scalloped Oval in White then the oval in Blushing Bride.  Glued them together and cut them in half.  Then glued them for ears.  Colored 2 of the smaller gems in black then the larger in red, for the eyes and nose and made 6 little lines on the CS for whiskers.  I used the scoring board to find the center and lined to 2 Points up scored 3 lines 1/2 inch apart then using the trimmer cut skits in it to slide the candy cane through, to look like its tail.  I made a tiny little bow at the top and adhered with a glue dot!

I know the first graders will enjoy this!  Hope you’ll make some too!   You can also use it for a present topper, a decoration for a card or Gift Card!  Enjoy!

 

Stamp on Monday

 

This was a just  cute little card and I wanted to use up some DSP.  As I was creating this card I kept adding more and more!

So layering was the key with this one!

Four you stamp set, Apothecary Framelits, Gingham DSP, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight DSP, Boho Blossoms punch, and pearls!

“Fall” into Friday’s color challenge

Any Fall themed card was today’s challenge!

 

I was going through my stamp sets and saw this little circle stamp in the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and thought, WOW!  That would be so cute to stamp in fall colors and it fits the 1″ or 1 1/4″ circle punch.  So I used the 1 1/4″ circle punch and centered the circle in the center of the Very Vanillla CS, Punched 3 circles then placed the CS over the crumb cake and stamped the circle images in Wild Wasabi, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  Propped that layer with Dimensionals and added a strip of Pumpkin Pie.  Also I used a retired stamp set from  the Hostess rewards Warmest Wishes and stamped it on a piece of scrap of Crumb Cake with Early Espresso ink.

I made this card for my mom to use for her very dear friends that are snowbirds and leave for Florida every winter.  She will be sending this card to them for Thanksgiving.

It’s Fridays’ Color Challenge

Basic Black, Soft Sky and Cherry Cobbler are our colors today!

This was a doozie for me.  I really had a rough time with these colors.  I have to be honest, I don’t think I am overly thrilled with this card and realized after it was put together I wanted to put a layer of Soft Sky under the white embossed layer.  Oh well, see no one is perfect and we all make mistakes and at the end of the day, Its really OK!  Next time if I make this design again I will remember.  Sometimes I only have a small window of time for creating and this day was one of them!  I was inspired by the “Hello” card in our catalog, I wanted to “CASE” it and twist it a little.  When I embossed it, I rubbed the soft sky ink on drier to soften it with a sponge.  I had  strip of DSP already cut for the Cherry Cobbler and realized it was in Real Red. LOL!   So by being in a rush I just threw in a strip of Cherry cobbler through the embossing folder again like the background and called it a day!   I probably should’ve walked away and left it for a couple hours but the card is cute and I think I can be critical of myself more then others.  I hope you like it!

A Fall “ish” Friday Color Challenge

 

Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight are the colors for our color challenge

So last year for my sons class I used these cello bags to create the “broom” with pixie sticks inside.  It was a total hit and everyone loved them.  This year I wanted to create a little “Thank you!” I haven’t decided if this will be my “favor”  on our thanksgiving table or a treat before the holiday for the boys classroom.  I will say its a heck of a lot easier filling these bags with pixie sticks, rather then an individual piece of candy.  Maybe I will try and find chocolate twizzlers or something else.  I will be on a mission, please comment if you do have an idea for another candy choice, would love to hear from you!

Candy Corn, I cut strips of the DSP and glued them to the White CS then punched them out piercing a hole at the top to fit the twine through.  I stamped the Many Thanks stamp from the Harvest of Thanks stamp set and used the Apothecary framelits to cut out the Early Espresso CS and the stamped image.  I also used the 1/2″ circle punch on the top of the Early Espresso die cut to give it a little more strength to where I pulled the twine through.  Tied a bow, Simple and Cute!
